The Registrar, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore invites applications in the prescribed form to fill up the 131 regular posts of Assistant Professors as in the Annexure-I duly following the communal and other reservations prescribed in G.O.Ms.No.142 Personnel and Administrative Reforms (K) Department dated 14.10.2009 and G.O.Ms.No.55 Personnel and Administrative Reforms (S) Department dated 08.04.2010 including 3% reservation for differently abled persons.

General Instructions
  • Defective and incomplete applications and those with wrong or false information will be rejected. The University will not be responsible for the postal delay. 
  • The envelopes containing the filled in applications should be superscribed as "Application for the post of Assistant Professor". 
  • The candidates who are willing to serve in the University for not less than a minimum period of three years can only apply and the selected candidates have to execute a bond to that effect before joining in the recruited post. 
  • Spiral binding and sending of loose sheets may be strictly avoided. Reprints have to be sent in a bound volume / thermal binding. 
  • The candidate should acquire higher qualification to be prescribed in future by the University / Government of Tamil Nadu / ICAR.
  • Persons who are already working in the University/ State / Central Government organization should send their applications through proper channel. Any delay in sending the applications through proper channel is not the responsibility of the University. 
  •  Candidates may send copies of testimonials from persons intimately acquainted with their work and character. They should submit an attested copy of the entry relating to their date of birth, from the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate, attested copies of their Degree Certificate testimonials including proof of passing National Eligibility Test (NET) by Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB)/University Grants Commission (UGC) / Central Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) / State Level Eligibility Test (SLET).
  • The candidate should submit three conduct, character certificate obtained from the Professor where the Institution last studied / currently working. 
  • Evidence of Educational / Academic certificates / Community / Date of Birth / Nativity Certificate and other certificates and testimonials should be brought in original at the time of interview.
  •  Concession in the matter of fees allotted to SC, SC(A) and ST categories of person has to produce evidence for such claim.
TNAU Fees and Demand Draft Details

 A crossed demand draft for Rs.1000/- (for SC, SCA and ST candidates : Rs.750/-) drawn in favour of "The Comptroller, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore-641 003" (The demand draft should be drawn from any branch of State Bank of India only payable at TNAU Branch, Coimbatore) should be enclosed along with the application towards Registration Charges. The demand draft should be dated not earlier than 29.09.2017.

Education Qualifications

Assistant Professor

i. A Master's degree in the relevant subject with a minimum OGPA of 3.20/4.00 (under 4 point grading system) or 7.00 / 10.00 (under 10 point grading system) or its equivalent grade in the State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) / ICAR Institutes/ Government and other recognized Agricultural Institutes irrespective of community is essential with good academic records. The candidate should possess the basic degree in the concerned Faculty from any State Agricultural University (SAUs) / ICAR / Government Institutions. The candidates should enclose the proof for the conversion of Grade Points/ class obtained to percentage of marks.
ii. NET is compulsory along with one publication in NAAS (National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi) rated refereed journal for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor and equivalent in the disciplines in which NET is conducted.
iii. NET essentiality for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor and equivalent in the disciplines  in which NET is conducted, for the candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to July 11, 2009 shall be exempted as per ICAR Lr. No.Edn.23/46/2010-EQR(pt) dt. 09.03.2017 subject to the conditions that;

a) Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only;
b) Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners;
c) Open Ph.D. viva-voce of the candidate had been conducted;
d) Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least one must be in refereed Journal.
e) Candidate has made at least two presentations in conference / seminars, based on his/her Ph.D. work.
(a) to (e) as above are to be certified by the Vice-Chancellor/Pro-Vice-Chancellor/ Dean (Academic Affairs)/Dean (University Instructions)" 

Subjects other than Agriculture and allied disciplines:

i. A Master's Degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55% marks or its equivalent grade and good academic records is required. For the candidates having Master’s degree, NET is compulsory along with one publication in NAAS (National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi) rated refereed journal for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor and equivalent in the disciplines in which NET is conducted. 

ii. Essentiality of NET can be waived off for the candidates holding Ph.D. degree provided it has been done with course work as prescribed by the UGC Regulations 2009, and the candidate has at least two full length publications (in journals) having a NAAS rating not less than 4, on the last date of submission of application.  Those candidates with Ph.D. degree without course work will not qualify for NET exemption.

iii. NET essentiality for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor and equivalent in the disciplines in which NET is conducted, for the candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to July 11, 2009 shall be exempted as per ICAR Lr. No.Edn.23/46/2010-EQR(pt) dt. 09.03.2017 subject to the conditions that;
