First Nepal-China joint military exercise Sagarmatha Friendship-2017’
The first Nepal-China joint military exercise 'Sagarmatha Friendship-2017’ concluded in Kathmandu on 25.04.2017. On 10-day drill, the exercise participants from Nepal and China demonstrated Hostage Rescue, Bus Break In, Sniper Firing and House Clearing Drill.
India and Sri Lanka sign MoU on economic co-operation
India and Sri Lanka today signed an MoU on Economic Co-operation. The agreement was exchanged in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe in New Delhi. Earlier, the two leaders held a meeting at Hyderabad House.
China’s First Home-Built Aircraft Carrier Hit Water
China’s first home-built aircraft carrier hit the water today boosting its military presence amid rising tensions in the region. China's state-run Xinhua news agency reported that the Vice -Chairman of the Central Military Commission, Fan Changlong, attended the ship launching ceremony of 001A. It is the country's second aircraft carrier, after the Liaoning, and the first to be made domestically. It comes amid heated rhetoric between the US and North Korea in recent days.
NASA launches Stadium-Sized Balloon begins Collecting Data in near Space
A stadium-sized pressure balloon launched by NASA in New Zealand began collecting data in near space today, beginning a 100-day planned journey after several launch attempts were thwarted by storms and cyclones. The balloon to detect ultra-high energy cosmic particles from beyond the galaxy as they penetrate the earth's atmosphere, is expected to circle the planet two or three times.

India’s First and Longest Sea Rope-way to connect Mumbai and Elephanta Island
India's first and longest ropeway will connect Mumbai with the Elephanta Island in the Arabian Sea. The proposed 8-km long ropeway will be constructed by the Mumbai Port Trust. The proposed ropeway will start from Sewri in Mumbai's east coast and end at Raigad district's Elephanta Island.
Central Government set up Central University for Differently Abled Persons
Central government has decided to set up a Central University which will cater to the needs of the disabled students across the country, said Union minister for human resource development . This was stated by HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar while addressing the convocation function of Shakuntala Mishra national rehabilitation university in Lucknow.
Goa University Confers D Litt degree on President
President Pranab Mukherjee was bestowed with a D Litt degree by the Goa University. Mukherjee was conferred with the D Litt degree during the 29th annual convocation of the university at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium. Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, who is also the university's chancellor, awarded the degree to Mukherjee.

Manpreet Kaur Manpreet Kaur wins Gold at Asian Grand Prix with National Record
Shot putter Manpreet Kaur broke her own 2015 national record at the Asian Grand Prix in Jinhua, China. Her performance in the event has helped her to earn a gold medal and qualify for the World Championships to be held in London in August 2017.
India wins 16 medals in US Open Karate Championship
India finished with three gold, two silver and 11 bronze medals at the US Open Karate Championship held in Las Vegas. Shaifali Agarwal, Abhishek Sengupta won a gold medal, a silver in two different individual events. India also won a gold medal in the team event. The Indian team was led by Sensei Yashpal Singh Kalsi and Members of the Indian contingent -- Abhishek Sengupta, Rantej Singh, Harcharan Singh Chowhan and Shaifali Agarwal were trained under Sensei Kalsi.
Subrata suspended for dope taint, will go for B sample test
Indian goalkeeper Subrata Paul was provisionally suspended today after failing a dope test but has vowed to prove himself innocent by going for the confirmatory 'B' sample test.
